Phoenix Wright In: Boot To The Head

Phoenix Wright In: Boot to the Head

Phoenix- 1901

Phoenix Wright isn’t all about unraveling murders. The video game lawyer has to perform mundane tasks too, like reading wills.

Okay, not really. A fan just had a bit of fun by matching up the cast of Phoenix Wright to The Frantics’ "Boot to the Head" skit. Wedging Phoenix Wright .gifs into awkward situations isn’t a new sport; the characters are so animated and absurd, they fit just about anywhere. "Boot to the Head," however, mirrors the original source material particularly well.

Comments:

I’ve never heard the original skit, so now I’ll always associate it with Phoenix Wright characters. They had an animation for everything… my favorite being the Tasmanian Devil in Phoenix’s pants. His “I’m dyin’ over here!” look was already funny in the game – they just made it hilarious.

Most of you have probably already seen this, but the Phoenix Wright Objection Generator is always fun:

Edgeworth makes the perfect “Know it all nephew.” I do wonder if Jake Marshall wouldn’t make a better “drunk” than Godot, though. Maybe he’s not as sarcastic, but he’s always, y’know, drinking whiskey.

I only knew the old “Tai Kwon Leap” boot-to-the-head skit. Didn’t realize they made it a series of bits!

Though I own the first and second games, I’ve only played the first so far. What’s Godot’s deal, without giving too much away? Jake Marshall ended up being a very serious and damaged character, so it’s tough to imagine him in comedy. Vice versa, I can’t imagine Godot carrying any sort of drama at all. He looks absolutely ridiculous.

The boots were good, and the intentionally-bad laugh track (or was that a studio audience for the original sketch?) was a nice touch.

But can the Internet catch slogan “for the win” please die now?

I agree, Stainless. Let’s also get rid of “teh internets” and “lawlz” while we’re at it, please.

I’m with you. Can we also add the improper usage of the word “am” to the banned list? And “teh” also makes me mental as a professional wordsmith.

If I said “for the win” or “am” or anything of that obnoxious nature in this write-up, I totally apologise. I tend to steer away from said memes, but maybe I slipped? Either way I’m not sure what you guys are referring to. ;)

I think most Phoenix Wright characters, beneath their goofy exteriors, are pretty damaged. Phoenix’s classroom flashback in case four of the original game was really sad.
.
Godot is … well, I can’t say too much, but rest assured: He looks goofy, but he’s nothing of the sort.

Definitely. Case four in game one is my favorite by a mile. I can’t imagine any of the other cases in any of the sequels topping that one for storytelling and surprise.
